Dark Souls might be one of the most unforgiving games around with it’s high difficulty and brutal deaths, but that doesn’t stop the fans from loving this game, instead the fans just love how the game treats them like crap. Dark Souls even have one of the most devoted fan bases around these days.

Interview with an Dark Souls Sculptor
Peter Nordstrom is a sculptor with a love for Dark Souls, he creates unique and amazing sculptures inspired by Dark Souls, we decide to do a quick interview him about his work. You can find and buy his art over at his Etsy Shop over here or you can click any of the sculptures down below.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your work.
I love art and games- the strategy, competition and challenge; incorporating these into my life and goals- to be the best artist that I can be, always pushing myself in talent and success. I love sharing my work with those who appreciate it, and hope that everyone who loves Dark Souls can own and display something that I created. I make all of the statues myself, from sculpting the figure, making the mold, casting it, assembling and painting; it gives the unique and hand-made touch, that I value in art and hope others do too.
How does the process look like when you’re creating one of your sculptures?
It starts mentally- I have to take a few days or so understanding the character, all the shapes, features, and plan out the process of how I am going to position the character and build it. I usually start with an armature made from wire, newspaper, aluminum foil, and masking tape to hold it together. My favorite clays to use are Magic Sculpt and Super Sculpey Extra Firm Grey. Magic Sculpt self dries to a rock hard and is super easy to use. Super Sculpey is for those figures that need a lot of time for detail work, so I can harden it in the oven when ready. Once I am finished sculpting, I make a mold, sometimes several molds depending on the figure. I use smooth-on products for this. Then I pour each piece, assemble, paint, and done.
What are you currently working on right now?
Aside from the current orders, I’m working on a few new commissioned pieces, which will also have limited edition runs available to everyone- Marvelous Chester, Heide Knight, and Ciaran (as part of a wedding cake topper set).
What motivated you to create art inspired by Dark Souls?
I was subcontracted by Namco Bandai (now called Bandai Namco), to create the original 5 statues for their giveaway contest in 2011 for Dark Souls 1. I had a friend who worked there and he showed them a couple of fan art statues I made of characters from Demon’s Souls. They loved them and I got the job. Since then, I’ve gotten so many requests for new statues, I had to teach myself how to make molds and start selling them at as affordable prices as possible (the goal is to share my art, but I have to eat and pay bills too!). I am super happy being able to create the art that I love (Dark Souls fits my style perfectly).
What’s your favorite character in Dark Souls?
Gravelord Nito. I made a large statue of him, but should probably make some smaller ones to sell. I also really like Artorias and Sif.
What’s your favorite video game of all time? And what are you playing right now?
Hard to say, I love the Souls series, but when I was younger, I loved Zelda, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger. Currently just playing the Souls games when I get breaks from work. I love co-op… keep an eye out for me if you are summoning for boss help!
Where can we find & buy your art?
Best place is probably etsy. Contact me if you are looking for something new, but please be patient as I am currently backed up for about 2 months on orders.
Dark Souls Posters & Prints
Now it’s time for some Dark Souls posters and art prints from Society6 and all around the internet, art inspired by the games, humors and some dark, and what they all got in common is that they look freaking bad ass. These prints do all come in a variety of sizes, you can get either art prints and posters from the stores, everything from small to big, you can click the them to find out more about each print and also check out more art from the creators of these pieces, there’s plenty of more to check out over at the site.
Dark Souls Iphone cases
Here are some Dark Souls Iphone cases with a bunch of different motives. Most of them are from Amazon, but the last one is from Etsy. The cases are for different Iphone models so make sure you choose the right case for your Iphone before purchasing anything.
Dark Souls Mouse pad & Other Merchandise
Now we come to last and final category of all the Dark Souls merchandise, here you’ll find everything from the Dark Souls mouse pad to the Dark Souls: Design Works Book that’s filled with art work, concept sketches and rough sketches from the game and from the development of the game, something I would recommend if your a fan of the design and art style of the game, you’ll also get to read some exclusive interviews with the makers of the game.
I also decide to throw in the two Dark Souls game in there too, Dark Souls and Dark Souls II, chances are pretty big that you already own those games if your here, checking out Dark Souls merchandise, but you never know, amazon got some nice deals for the games so it’s defiantly worth checking out if you don’t already own them.
